Windsor Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter.
We are currently building a family house in Severance, Colorado and hope to have it completed soon.
Habitat for Humanity builds and sells houses with volunteer materials and labor in order to sell them to people who otherwise would be living in sub-standard housing. The houses are sold to families with a no interest mortgage that must be repaid to Habitat. In turn, Habitat takes that money and invests it into building houses for more families.
Families selected by Windsor Habitat must also provide "sweat equity" into their home. This includes a certain number of hours that the family must work on their own house and/or work on another project for Habitat.
To qualify for a house from Windsor Habitat, the family must be living in the Windsor-Severance School District and have lived there for at least one year. The family must also fall into income guidelines based on the size of the family. The family must not make enough money to afford to buy a house in a conventional manor, but must make enough to pay the mortgage back to Habitat. The family must have a need for adequate housing and have a strong willingness to partner with Windsor Habitat for Humanity to build their home.
